Mail Carrier In Maryland Fights Off Armed Robber Seeking Mailbox Key: Reports

A mail carrier was able to fend off a would-be robber who attempted to steal a mail collection box key in Maryland, according to multiple reports.

In Montgomery County, shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, police investigators were called to Hillridge Drive near the intersection of Saul Road in South Kensington, where a mail carrier was reportedly armed at gunpoint.

The mail carrier was able to fight off the attempted robber, and he was unable to steal the collection box key, reports state.

Police described the suspect as being Black, between 19 and 20 years old, with dreadlocks down to his shoulder, according to 7NewsDC.

Over the summer, a similar situation played out in Tacoma Park when two teens pulled a gun and robbed a USPS driver of his truck keys during an armed assault.

No injuries were reported in the latest incident.
